Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 August 2026
This site is a small editorial publication about dogs. It has no accounts, no newsletter, no comment section and no contact form, which means there is very little about you for us to hold — and this policy says plainly what the little there is.
Who is responsible for your data
dogfollowers.com is published by Sneha Kulkarni, who is the data controller for the processing described below.

What we do not collect
It is worth being specific, because most privacy policies are written to cover things a site does not actually do. On this site there is:
- No account system, so no names, email addresses or passwords.
- No newsletter and no mailing list.
- No contact form, comment section or upload facility.
- No analytics package such as Google Analytics.
- No advertising, retargeting or audience-measurement scripts at the time of writing.
- No sale or sharing of personal information to anyone, for any purpose.
If any of that changes, this page is updated before the change goes live, not afterwards.
What is stored in your own browser
Two small values are saved in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device, are never transmitted to us, and we cannot read them:
dogfollowers_theme— whether you chose the light or dark appearance.dogfollowers_bookmarks— the articles you have saved, stored as a list of page addresses.
Clearing your browser's site data for dogfollowers.com removes both immediately. Doing so will lose your saved articles, since that list exists nowhere else.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. Local storage, described above, is a different mechanism: it is not sent with your requests and is not used to recognise you across sites.
What is unavoidably processed
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard web server access logs for every request — IP address, timestamp, the page requested, the response code, the referring page and the browser's user agent string. Every web server does this, and it is necessary to operate a site, diagnose faults and identify abuse.
Where this constitutes personal data, the lawful basis under UK and EU GDPR is our legitimate interest in running a functioning and secure website. Logs are retained for a short rolling period by the host and are not used to build profiles, are not combined with anything else, and are not shared except where we are legally obliged to.
Content loaded from other companies
Two things on each page are fetched from third-party servers. When your browser requests them, that company necessarily receives your IP address and user agent, as it would for any file requested from any server:
- Cloudflare (cdnjs) — the icon font used for the small symbols on the site.
- Unsplash — the photography used to illustrate articles.
Neither is given any information about you by us, and neither is used to track you across this site. Each operates under its own privacy policy, which we do not control.
Advertising
At the time of writing, this site carries no third-party advertising and runs no advertising scripts.
If advertising or content-recommendation services are introduced, this section will be rewritten before they go live to name the providers involved. Advertising services of that kind typically set their own cookies or device identifiers to limit how often an advertisement is shown and to measure whether it was effective, and some use them to personalise what you are shown. Where consent is legally required for that, it will be requested through a consent notice rather than assumed, and you will be able to refuse personalisation and still read the site normally.
Where your data goes
Sneha Kulkarni is based in India. Our hosting provider and the two third parties named above operate internationally, so data may be processed outside your own country, including in jurisdictions whose data protection law differs from your own. Where data covered by UK or EU GDPR moves outside those areas, transfers rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses as appropriate.
How long anything is kept
- Server logs: a short rolling window set by the hosting provider, then overwritten.
- Correspondence by email: for as long as the matter is open and up to 24 months afterwards, then deleted.
- Local storage in your browser: until you clear it. We have no control over it and no copy of it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict processing, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have these rights under GDPR; residents of India have comparable rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023; residents of California and several other US states have their own equivalents.
In practice we hold almost nothing that identifies you, so most requests can be answered quickly and honestly: there is no profile to export. To make a request, write to contact@dogfollowers.com. We may need to ask a question to be confident we are not disclosing information to the wrong person.
If you are unhappy with how a request was handled, you are entitled to complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
This site is written for adults who look after dogs. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, write to us and it will be deleted.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Because it holds no accounts and no database of readers, the most effective security measure available to us is not collecting the data in the first place, which is the approach taken here.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and material changes will be described rather than made quietly. Reading the site after a change means the current version applies.
